Winter Fairy

Made for the Single Pattern contest at CC32, in which a commercial pattern is chosen and then people use it as they like to make something unique. I used the mermaid costume pattern and modified it heavily: I turned the bodice into a corset, and used the fishtail pattern pieces as skirt panels and wings.
I've wanted to do a winter fairy for ages, so this was a perfect excuse. I was inspired by red berries on bare branches, and wanted to look super creepy.
The corset is silver metallic fabric with white crinkle organza hand-pleated and hand-sewn to it, with lace strips applied and clusters of sequins in white and red.
The bodysuit and skirt panels are hand-dyed. I'll be making an ice headdress with horns when I have time.
