Another historical mashup; I had this striped dupioni in my stash for at least 10 years and finally did something with it over the pandemic.
Dress: Robe à la Française and petticoat are silk dupioni (not historically accurate, but neither is Crowley), and all the trims were from my stash. The snakes were smocked from a two-tone silk dupioni and embellished with beads. The stomacher is a black snakeskin pleather with goldwork snake appliqué. The lace for my engageantes (sleeve ruffles) wasn't wide enough so I added an extension out of silk organza.
Wig: Styled by me, with a 1760s 'mini-pouf' headdress made from stash materials based on the American Duchess book.
